Who We Are
Mission:
"Maine Children's Home builds and strengthens families and their children, instilling hope for the future and a better quality of life."
History:
For 123 years (since 1899), Maine Children’s Home has been supporting and treating children, youth, and families who have experienced trauma and significant family disruptions. We provide this service through targeted, trauma-informed programs including adoption, teen parent supports, and child and family counseling. Originally an orphanage, early in MCH's history, the focus shifted to adoption to better serve the children, families, and the community.
What We Do
Maine Children’s Home (MCH) is a 501(c)(3) organization that offers programs for building and strengthening families and their children, instilling hope for the future and a better quality of life. Founded in 1899, the Waterville-based organization has evolved with the changing needs of families and children, and supports more than 3,000 people each year through five core programs in adoption, counseling, teen-parent support, holiday assistance, and caregiver resources.
