Who We Are

We are a volunteer based non-profit organization founded in 1980 that serves 27 communities in Central Maine. We follow a hospice philosophy that provides care and support for people with life threatening illness, and their families, and are dedicated to reaffirming that life in its final phase can be lived to the fullest.

What We Do

HVWA provides non-medical support to individuals and their families during the last phases of life; support to loved ones throughout the grieving process; and support to the community through education related to grief and death. We also provide grief support to adults and children who have sustained loss either through illness or unexpected death.
