Volunteer: Festival of Trees volunteers

The Alfond Youth & Community Center and the Mid-Maine Chamber of Commerce are excited to host the 2025 Festival of Trees at the Waterville Elks Lodge (76 Industrial St, Waterville, ME 04901).
Event Dates:
•    November 20, 2025 - Appreciation Night (not open to the public)
•    November 21–23, 2025
•    November 28–30, 2025

We’re looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help make this year’s event magical!
•    Sign up for one or more 3–4 hour shifts (please plan to stay for your full shift).
•    You can register as an individual or with a group.
•    Some positions, such as registration or ticket sales, require comfort using a tablet.
•    Volunteers must be 18 or older to participate.

Volunteer: Homework Help

Our after-school program serves youth ages 5-12. Home work help is often needed afterschool from 230-4pm. Volunteers should have a grasp of math, including fractions, ratios, word problems, and basic math operations; the ability to help with reading and writing; and, a great disposition!

The AMP Up (Alfond Mentor Program:  Uplifting Potential) aims to enhance communication skills, social development, and other learning skills for After School Program youth ages 5-12.

Volunteers will meet with youth once a week for an hour. The schedule is flexible. Mentoring occurs during the time of 3-530pm, Monday - Friday, during the school year. Volunteers must submit a volunteer application, complete a background check, and complete the mandated reporter training online through the State of Maine. The application can be found here: AYCC Volunteer application

Activities with mentees include board and card games, arts & crafts, youth sports, walking the track, or joining in the group activity.

You will teach sport-specific skills, mental toughness, good sportsmanship, and ultimately how to compete in a positive and productive way. Prior experience is not needed, we will provide you with coaching instructions.

Our youth sports rotate out every 8 weeks. We have football, flag football, softball, baseball, basketball, cheer, and more.
