Who We Are

Good Shepherd Food-Bank is Maine’s largest hunger relief organization and is responsible for the procurement and distribution of millions of pounds of food annually. We work with over 600 partner agencies throughout the state to distribute foods to local communities.

What We Do

We work to eliminate hunger in Maine by improving access to nutritious and culturally relevant food for people in need, building strong community partnerships, and mobilizing the public in the fight to end hunger.

Volunteers at the Auburn Distribution Center mainly assist our team with inspecting and sorting salvage food items from our retail partners.  Other tasks are packing food boxes for our Community Health & Hunger Program, and repacking produce, bread, or refrigerated/frozen items.

Most of the produce that our volunteers sort and pack comes to us from our Mainers Feeding Mainers program.  Through this program, the Food Bank works with over 90 farmers throughout the state to provide our partner agencies with local, nutritious produce.
