There is an ongoing need for literacy tutors for adult basic education (ABE) and for English as a Second Language (ESoL) learners. Learners come to LVA for a wide range of needs such as obtaining a high school equivalency degree (now called HiSET, rather than GED), learning basic reading, support to pass workplace exams, help to obtain employment skills, extra support with adult education classes, or pass the driver's exam. Tutors are asked to commit to one hour per week with their learner. Some of our tutors tell us their relationship with their learner is one of the most rewarding they have experienced. Please consider helping someone learn the skills they need to be more independent and help themselves.
